South Caulfield Hebrew Congregation - An evening with Yahya Mahamid
Yahya Mahamid is a 23-year-old Israeli-Arab Zionist, former StandWithUs educator and an IDF infantry reservist. Born in Umm Al-Fahm, an Arab city in Northern Israel, he was taught from a young age to hate Jews and deny Israel's statehood. However, Yahya began to have everyday interactions with Israelis which challenged the negative views he had been encouraged to develop. After realizing that he had been misled, he decided to do everything within his power to combat negative stereotypes and demonization of Israel.
After his nearly 3 year service in the IDF, Yahya continues to share his story and be a brave young voice, speaking out for the Jewish state and against hatred
