Jack Hines OAM was born in Adelaide and went through his school years there including being a Warrant Officer in the Prince Alfred College cadets.
He attended Adelaide Hebrew Congregation Hebrew school until his Bar Mitzvah during his father's presidency. He has held the Presidency of AZA youth group, B'nai B'rith Youth Council, JNF, Jewish Community Council of South Australia and the city's only Jewish school Massada College and associated kindergarten.
As Chairman of Think Adelaide Committee he has overseen plans to progress the Jewish community of Adelaide.
He and his wife Annette moved to Melbourne in 1996.
